KEREIAKES PARK UPDATE

From Paul Correa, Athletic Program Manager Bowling Green Parks and Recreation:

We had a third proof-rolling test last week, and this one proved to be more satisfactory than the previous test. This was encouraging, but we are not out of the woods, yet. City Engineers and the contractor agreed that some localized modifications could prove sufficient (as opposed to proposed lime or cement additions.) They marked off two areas that will be undercut 12", and new soil well be brought into fill the void. We will commence with another proof roll test to see if this approach will work. This would save a considerable amount of money and time, if it does.

In the meantime, the contractor will be flagging off the courts May 30 to mark where light pole holes will be drilled and set, and accompanying trenching for wiring is to occur June 2, weather permitting. Lights will be installed by BG Parks' capable Maintenance Staff in an effor to save money.

I submitted court color requests (from the SOKY Tennis Board) to the architect, and am awaiting a response from the distributor. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation, and encourage all to visit our other great tennis courts in the meantime.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this great event. We hope we can host a bigger and better tournament next year!
