It's
not exactly clay courts, but you will soon have access to
two more quality courts at Covington Woods Park. We are
now in the homestretch in completing the refurbished courts.
The contractor is putting down the initial coats of color.
After this our invaluable maintenance staff will playce
brand new tennis posts and nets; signage has also been ordered. If
all goes well the courts should be open in October. All
outdoor court lights will be on, or available from 6 - 11pm,
at least until daylight savings when they will be set at
5pm.
Bowling
Green To Host Mixed Doubles Championship (April 2009)
USTA
Kentucky has announced that Bowling Green has been awarded
the USTA League Mixed Doubles State Championships for 2009
and 2010. A lot of the credit goes to Bowling Green Parks
and Recreation for their work in the reconstruction of the
courts at Kereiakes Park and to Bowling Green Independent
Schools for their work on the courts at Bowling Green High
School. The selection committee was adamant that Bowling
Green is second to no one in the state when it comes to
tennis facilities. A big thank you also goes to the Bowling
Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for their work
in helping submit the bid and organize the players party.
This event will allow us to showcase this wonderful community
and we'll need a lot of help in making sure this tournament
is a success. If you're interested in volunteering, send
us an email at sokytennis@yahoo.com.
